Mia and Dadda

As Karina has mentioned, Mia has been growing up so fast. Everyday when my workday is over, I go to the daycare to get Mia. The first thing she does when she notices me, is smiles and and says Dada, and crawls to me. When we get home, she loves to go and get her puppy (stuffed animal). I am constantly singing songs to her, and challenging her. Such as when she has her pacifier I ask her "can I have that", and she will give to to me. So then I put it in my mouth by the handle and shake my head a little...that makes her laugh. I always say thank you when she gives me something. She also gives me kisses on the cheek when I ask for a kiss...so cute.

10 Month old

I am in denial that you are ten months old this week. I can’t believe my little girl is growing up so fast. I was at work on Tuesday and kept saying you were nine months, but then I realized you turned 10 month on Monday (Martin Luther King’s day).

However, it’s true. You are ten months old. So much has happened this month… the main milestone is crawling. You are fully crawling and even have turbo speed crawling when you really want to get to something. So far your favorite things to get into you shouldn’t. You like to go infront of the TV and take all the DVD’s down and bite on them. You also love to find paper anywhere so you can rip it up. I’m sure any day now you are going to move onto standing and then walking. Right now you try so hard to stand up and I’ve seen you get almost there. I’m sure that is going to happen any minute.

I love you baby girl,

Mom.

Teeth!!

Mia's first tooth is popping through. I realized it on Sunday when we were at the mall looking for her baptism gown, just for her 10th month birthday…. its her bottom left one - Mia has been drooling like crazy and with a running nose and its no wonder.

CACA

Mia has a new word on her vocabulary. Caca, she started to said caca for a while now, but we didn't know why. caca in spanish is poop. so we were thinking it was that.
Yesterday we were watching the movie "the Lady and the Tramp" and when she saw the dogs she said caca and start pointed to the dogs. so we think she is calling codie. Codie is Aunt Tracy's dog and Mia loves him, even though he doesn't care about her.
Caca= codie. isn't that funny?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Its 2009 - wow, how that happened. 2008 was a wonderful year - we saw Mia blossom from a baby learning to sit up to a crawling baby. (Almost crawling, she still works on it).

On New Year Eve we hosted the last year dinner at our house, we had Patricia, Vinny, Shaun’s Mon (Linda) and Shaun’s cousin Paul with us. We had a Hispanic menu (for me it’s just traditional food), but for Shaun and he’s family it is something different. We had:
Pork, Pastelon the platanos amarrillos (sweet plantain casserole), potato salad, green beans casserole (this one is not Hispanic), garlic bread, Flan and Dulce Frio.
We watched old movies and at 11:00 pm we change the channel to watch the ball drop.
After we kissed and hugged and wish each other the best for this New Year, Patricia and Vinny went home and by 12:30 am I was in bed, good thing that I went to bed right away because Mia was up by 7:00 am.

Here’s to another fabulous year! I’m sure each month will bring even more fun as Mia continues to grow and take on the world.

It’s Official…….. We are crawling.

On New Year Eve Lisa from the day care told us that Mia crawled, she wanted to record it for us, but by the time she got to the camera, Mia didn’t want to do it anymore.
So when we got home we tried to make her crawl to us, but of course, she didn’t want to do it, but by the time that Nina Patricia and uncle Vinny got to our house for dinner she start to crawl to them, but again when we got to the camera she stops doing it.
It’s so nice that Mia is finally moving forward. She crawls on both hands, one knee, and one foot. She alternates which foot she uses to sort of push herself along! I'll try and get pictures up soon! She is also trying to stand up too.

Unfortunately this has also been the month of getting sick (and maybe teething, again?) - So it’s not been the most restful for anyone in the house.
We’ve also been working on finger foods and you are really starting to get the hang of it. Your favorites are the puffs; you also like bread, Ritz crackers, cheese, biscuits.

This is one of Mia’ favorite games to play with us:
she will take her paci out of her mouth and put it in Shaun’s or my mouth (we get the back part of the paci, not he sucking part). After a few second of sharing it with us, she will rip it out of our mouth and put it back in her own. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat until Daddy stops playing the game.
